Needs Assessment

1. Review diagnosis and evaluation of vascular disease focusing on noninvasive testing and screenings.

 

2. Increase knowledge of therapies for abdominal aortic aneurysms and discuss indications for AAA repair and discuss endovascular versus surgical repair.

 

3. Increase knowledge of therapies for carotid disease and discuss indications for revascularization and carotid stenting versus endarterectomy.

 

4. Demonstrate management strategies for acute stroke and management strategies for secondary stroke prevention.

 

5. Understand the risks and benefits of antithrombotic therapy in patients with coronary artery disease. Understand the strategies of bleeding minimization in the management of patients with ischemic heart disease.

 

6. Illustrate that blood management is an evidence-based, multidisciplinary process that is designed to promote optimal use of blood products throughout the hospital. Illustrate that the goal of blood management is to ensure the safe and efficient use of the many resources involved in the complex process of blood component therapy.

 

7. Review recent controversies and consensus recommendations for the use of aspirin and clopidogrel in patients with bare metal and drug-eluting stents.

 

8. Review current clinical guidelines and clinical trial data regarding anti-thrombotic therapy for the acute and long term management of patients with myocardial infarction.
